Oil sector heads enjoy high salary in Kazakhstan

As of 2011, the highest salaries in Kazakhstan were registered among the heads of those engaged in the production of crude oil and natural gas - 1.2 million tenge (over $8000) per month, or 5.7 times more than the average salary of CEOs across the country, the Kazakh Statistics Agency said today.

As of 2011, the highest salaries in Kazakhstan were registered among the heads of those engaged in the production of crude oil and natural gas - 1.2 million tenge (over $8000) per month, or 5.7 times more than the average salary of CEOs across the country, the Kazakh Statistics Agency said today.

Specialists of higher and secondary qualification in this area have also received high salaries, 349,000 tenge ($2300) and 218,000 tenge (about $1500), respectively.

High salaries were registered among pilots and engineers on drilling operations and transport, from 468,000 tenge ($3100) to 497,000 tenge ($3300) per month. Engineers for protection and safety, oil and gas extraction and technical supervision varied from 390,000 to 415,000 tenge (from $2600 to $2800).

According to Kazakh social analysts, employees operating in the field of air transport receive an average salary worth 186,000 tenge ($1250). Those operating in financial and insurance areas received 172,000 tenge per month ($1100). Managers in the construction industry received 238,000 tenge ($1600) and mid-level computer programmers 179,000 tenge ($1200).

Tractor-drivers received a high salaryof 86,000 tenge ($578) and cattlemen 80,000 tenge ($530). Office cleaners received a low salary of 17,000-23,000 tenge ($114-154).

Women's salaries were lower than men's ones in all major positions. The highest salary was registered among the heads of organisations in Almaty and Astana. They received 444,000-482,000 tenge ($3000-3,00).
