E-taxpayer registration in Azerbaijan will have a positive impact on the fight against corruption, Azerbaijani Deputy Tax Minister Sahib Alakbarov said at a presentation on the "state e-registration of legal entities" today.

"Online registration for physical entities has been available since July, as well as e-registration for legal entities since early 2012.
This saves time and money," he said. "It also plays a significant role in the implementation of policy to combat corruption in the country."

He said about 10,075 people were registered with the tax bodies in July-December, or 34.5 percent of the total taxpayers.

"One-third of the taxpayers registered online are in Baku, and the rest are in the regions," he said.

Head of the Tax Ministry's Economic Analysis Division Natiq Shirinov said the share of taxpayers registered online since early 2012 has hit 49.6 percent.
