The information about the address will be indicated in the identification cards in the form of the code in Azerbaijan, head of the real estate cadastre and technical inventory center under the State Property Committee Ramiz Guliyev told media on Tuesday.
"The address will not be indicated in its current form in new identity cards," he said. "The information about the address will be indicated in electronic form. The codes will be indicated instead of the street names."
A number will be assigned to every street, every entrance to the facility within the address register system.
New identity cards will be used in Azerbaijan from January 1, 2014. They will have an electronic carrier (chip). Identity cards issued before January 1, 2014, remain in force until the citizens reach 25, 35, 50 years old or there is a need for changing names, surnames, patronymic names, marital status, military service, as well as in case of its loss, inadequacy or errors in the information contained in the document.
The creation of address register in Azerbaijan began in September 2010.
Previously, Azerbaijani and Norwegian governments signed the grant agreement to create a registry. According to the agreement, an information address registry system will be created in Azerbaijan during 1.5 years.
