Agricultural products produced by Georgian farmers will be exempt from value added tax (VAT). President Mikheil Saakashvili announced this initiative at a meeting with residents of the city of Tsnori in the Kakheti region, Eastern Georgia.

Agricultural products produced by Georgian farmers will be exempt from value added tax (VAT). President Mikheil Saakashvili announced this initiative at a meeting with residents of the city of Tsnori in the Kakheti region, Eastern Georgia.

"It has been very difficult for farmers to cultivate the land as the fuel became more expensive. Therefore, we decided to submit this initiative to parliament which suggests an exemption from VAT for those products produced by local farmers. This will be done to enable Georgian agricultural products be largely represented in our stores," Mikheil Saakashvili said.
