Kyrgyzstan almost solves food security issue

The issue of food security of Kyrgyzstan is almost solved, Kyrgyz Minister of Agriculture and Melioration Askarbek Zhanybekov said at the press conference in Bishkek on July 4, CA-News reports.

Zhanybekov said that during the visit of Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov to Kazakhstan, the two parties agreed on supply on 100,000 tons of wheat from Kazakhstan for reserve. "I believe there will be no lack of wheat," he said.

Zhanybekov also said that Kyrgyzstan needs 1.26 million tons of wheat annually. "This volume will be supplied to Kyrgyzstan with one year delay for payment, and Kyrgyzstan will pay by portions within this term," Zhanybekov explained.
