The 55th meeting of the Economic Council of the CIS countries, the agenda of which included more than 20 questions related to expansion of cooperation in various areas of the economy has opened in Ashgabat, an official Turkmen source said on Friday.
The concept of anti-terrorism projects on the railways of the CIS states and creation of a bank of patents and innovation on the implementation of the action plan to carry out the concept of co-operation between the CIS states in the field of energy will be discussed. In addition, the organisation of joint activities in the framework of the Intergovernmental Council for the exploration, use and conservation of resources (2011-2015), on the establishment of a regional advisory group in the CIS in the financial Stability Board will be reviewed.
The projects on the method of calculation and forms of the joint balance of major food states also CIS participants, on the consolidated list of competitive products offered by manufacturers of the CIS, on the state of the securities market in the CIS and on the amendment of the single budget of the CIS in 2012 will also be discussed.
Turkmenistan hosts the high level forum as president of the CIS in 2012.
Turkmenistan in its role as president of the CIS in 2012, planned to organise a total of 31 events, 10 of which are to be organised in Ashgabat, the others in other Commonwealth countries.
Ashgabat in 2005, referring to the status of permanent neutrality, recognised and supported by the UN, has decided on its participation in the CIS as an associate member.
