Wheat sowing process in a 860,000 hectare-territory is under completion in Turkmenistan, Netural Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Friday.

Some 750,000 hectares have been sowed, which makes up 90 percent of the total land plots allotted for wheat.

More than 195,000 of 225,000 hectares have been sowed in Akhal region. Some 170,000 of 200,000 hectares have been sowed in Mari region, some 160,000 of 180,000 hectares in Dashoguz region, 155,000 of 175,000 hectares in Lebap and 55,000 of 80,000 hectares in Balkan region.

Some 1.600 million tons of wheat are planned to be delivered to the country's storehouses.
A sowing campaign started in the middle of August. Various sorts of wheat such as 'Batko', 'Sakhrain', 'Eloten-1', 'Bitarap', 'Juvai', as well as the firm sort 'Turkmenbashi-1', used for pasta production, were sown.

More than 1.200 million tons of wheat were produced in Turkmenistan in 2012. More than 1.3 million tons were harvested in 2011, in spite of the drought.

TurkmenGallaOnumlery (Turkmen Grain Association) has been allowed to sell the surplus of the harvest volume, exceeding the domestic demand, on the foreign markets.
