The housing stock of Azerbaijan during its independence years quadrupled and reached 162 million square metres.
Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for City Building and Architecture Abbas Alasgarov made this statement during his speech in Baku at the 34th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the construction sector of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
"The housing stock per capita today is 18 square metres," Alasgarov said.
He said the volume of construction and assembly work increased 19-fold in the past 20 years.
"The average salary of workers of the construction sector grew six-fold," Alasgarov said.
He said the training of professionals is one of the main priorities in the field of urban planning.
