Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 6 / Trend A. Akhundov /

After its construction, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars transport corridor can be used to transport the equipment, used in the anti-terrorist operations of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF), Azerbaijani deputy transport minister Musa Panakhov told media today. He added this does not refer to the troops.

Earlier Panahov, along with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov met at NATO headquarters to inform ISAF member states about transporting servicemen, ammunition and equipment through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. This is in relation to the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in connection with the ISAF operations in 2014.

The commitments made by three countries regarding the appropriate route, ensuring a reliable and profitable transit line from political, financial and in terms of security, as well as ensuring the further development of the regions were stressed during the meeting.

Taking into account the extreme significance and importance of transportation for ISAF countries, NATO members and ISAF partners showed interest in the presentation. The proposed transit routes were acknowledged.
