The Iranian Railways Company will equip 4,000 kilometers length of the national railroad network with electrification systems, IRIB quoted the company's managing director Abdol-Ali Saheb-Mohammadi as saying on Saturday.
Roughly 420 kilometers of railroad will be constructed by the end of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2013), Saheb-Mohammadi added.
On November 3, Saheb-Mohammadi said the company has the potential to build 350 kilometers of railroads per year.
Some 11,000 kilometers of railroads are being built across the country, he noted.
Almost 25,000 kilometers of railway is in operation across the country, the deputy roads and urban development minister Ahmad Sadeqi has said. He added that by the next two years all the country's provinces will be connected together through the railroad network.
