Monthly inflation was 0.3 per cent in Georgia in January 2013 compared to December 2012, the Georgian Statistics Agency said today.
The prices on food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.6 per cent, in particular, vegetables and melons (14.7 per cent), milk, cheese and eggs (4.2 per cent).
The increase in inflation was prevented by lower tariffs for electricity and gas (6.9 per cent).
Deflation has been observed in Georgia for the last few months.
