Georgian commercial banks’ total assets increase by 85.5 million lari per month

As of June 1, the Georgian banking sector was represented by 20 commercial banks, including 16 with foreign investments in authorised capital and the branches of two foreign banks.

The Georgian National Bank told Trend that the total assets of commercial banks increased by 85.6 million lari ($1=1.65 lari), i.e. by 0.6 per cent and hit 14.7 billion lari compared to April.

The banking sector's own funds amounted to 2.6 billion, or 17.8 per cent of the total assets.

Foreign investments in the total authorised capital of the banks amounted to 74.9 per cent.

The banking sector finished last month in profit. Net income hit 30.9 million lari. The share of the five largest banks in the sector's total assets amounted to 79.5 per cent.
