Tabriz refinery's new gasoline production unit was inaugurated, managing director of the Tabriz Oil Refining Company, Adel Nejad-Salim said, Iranian State IRINN TV reported.

Iran's total Euro-5 gasoline production capacity increased by three million litres per day by the opening of the new unit, he added.

About 265 million euros have been invested, Nejad-Salim said, adding that the Tabriz refinery is the country's third Euro-5 gasoline producer refinery.

Iran's average gasoline consumption has reached 70 million litres per day which is seven per cent more than the last solar year (ended on March 21).

The county's gasoline output capacity is currently around 67 million litres per day.
Iran will daily import five to seven million litres of gasoline in the second half of the current solar year (ends March 20, 2014), the Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said in September.

"Iran's gasoline production capacity will rise by up to seven million litres by the end of the current solar year, but even then the country's output would not meet domestic demands," the ISNA News Agency quoted Zanganeh as saying.
