Industrial production continues increasing in Azerbaijan

The total volume of industrial production which is the capacity of production and rendered industrial services in Azerbaijan, amounted to 5.7 billion manat in January-February 2014. This is 0.4 percent more than in the same period of 2013, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

'Azerbaijan's non-oil sector showed a 3.9 percent increase, while the oil sector reduced by 1.4 percent during this period', according to a statement.

High growth in the production of tobacco, footwear and leather goods, printing, production of computers and other electronic devices, clothing and other areas was observed in the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan in 2013, according to the report.

The volume of production in the mining industry amounted to 4.3 billion manat with a specific weight of 75.44 percent in the whole industrial production process during the reporting period. This is 2.6 percent less than in January-February 2013.

The volume of oil production amounted to 7.2 million tons, while natural gas production was equal to 2.9 billion cubic meters in January-February 2014. Oil production dropped 3.6 percent, while gas production went down five percent compared to January-February 2013.

The production volume in the processing industry amounted to 1.03 billion manat with a specific weight of 18.1 percent in January-February 2014 which is 15.5 percent more than in January-February 2013. Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 1.1 percent and water supply, treatment and recycling of waste increased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on March 21.
