Inquiries to Azerbaijani credit registry increase by almost a third

Some 201,604 inquiries were received by the Centralized Credit Registry Service of Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) in February 2014, according to the bank's report.

CBA said the number of inquiries to the service grew by 29.2 percent versus the same period of 2013.

The credit registry received 198,152 requests from banks in February, while 3,452 persons requested their own credit reports.

The data about 2,015,488 borrowers were included into the credit registry as of late February, while the total number of data on loans was 6,912,676. The registry also includes 893,736 data regarding guarantors.

Centralized Credit Registry Service has been operating in Azerbaijan since March 2005.

The tariff for one inquiry of an individual is 1.1 manats, while legal entity's inquiry costs two manats. The credit registry is non-commercial and its tariffs are meant to cover administrative costs.

The official exchange rate on April 10 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
