Astana, Kazakhstan, Jan.26

By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan slightly reduced the export volume of its coal as of 2014, the country's Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik said on Jan.26.

He made the remarks while speaking during the 'government hour' in Majlis (the parliament's lower house).

"Around 107 million metric tons of coal (excluding coal concentrate) was produced in Kazakhstan in 2014," he said, adding that the coal export stood at 30.4 million metric tons, which is less than in 2013.

The minister said that the decrease in the export volume of Kazakh coal is a result of Russia's refusal to buy coal from abroad. "However, we are carrying out serious work on exporting our coal to Russia."
