Revenues of Kazakh Internet providers for the first three quarters of 2015 amounted to 144.4 billion tenge (307.62 tenge = $1), which is 17 percent (20.9 billion tenge) more than the same period last year, Ranking.kz analytical service reported.

The customer base of Internet service providers in the reporting period has increased by 80,400 subscribers.

Astana (a 29 percent increase - up to 22.2 billion tenge) and Almaty region (a 23.4 percent increase - to 4.4 billion tenge) are the leaders in terms of growth in January-September 2015.

Despite the fact that the subscribers of Internet providers are mainly in major cities of Kazakhstan, the active growth of Internet coverage extends to the countryside as well.

Almaty region, where the proportion of the rural population is 75.8 percent, enters the TOP 3 areas on the absolute increase of the number of Internet subscribers (excluding Almaty). During 2015, their number in the region increased by 7,700 - up to 121,200. On the number of subscribers, the region rose to the fourth place in Kazakhstan, and now is ahead of Astana.

The TOP 3 regions also include East Kazakhstan (growth by 12,000 - up to 132,000 subscribers) and North Kazakhstan (an increase of 9,600 - up to 83,600 subscribers). Almaty, the absolute leader in the number of subscribers in the country, showed an increase by 53,000 - up to 765,200 subscribers.

The capital, despite the revenue growth of Internet service providers, by contrast, showed a decline on the number of subscribers - a decrease by 4,100 - up to 121,400 subscribers.
