The Azerbaijani public and private sector is more cautious about spending to purchase the information technology (IT), Ilya Kravtsov, IBM director general in Azerbaijan, told Trend Nov. 19.

He said that the companies and enterprises think about the way of optimizing and reducing costs and increasing competitiveness.

"If we compare the Azerbaijani market with those of Russia and Ukraine, where the impact of the crisis is obvious, there are certain difficulties in Azerbaijan," he said. "It is undeniable that the public sector spends less and commercial organizations are more cautious about their spending. However, we see the additional benefits and opportunities here as we offer solutions to optimize and reduce costs and improve competitiveness."

IBM has achieved growth in the most strategic areas such as analytics, consulting, mobile technology and software. Its main customer is the financial sector of Azerbaijan's economy. There are certain plans for public enterprises.

"We are actively developing our partnership direction," he said. "We classify partners on certain decisions to focus on these decisions and to be able to help implement the projects without attracting foreign resources."
