Iran, Brazil gear up to boost trade

There are plans underway to increase the volume of trade turnover between Iran and Brazil to $5 billion a year, a Brazilian minister said.

Mines and Energy Minister of Brazil Fernando Coelho Filho has said the level of trade turnover between the two countries must double in future, IRNA news agency reports.

He made the remarks at a meeting with visiting Iranian Economy Minister Ali Tayebnia in Brasilia.

According to the minister, the level of current trade turnover between the two countries stands at $2 billion.

Commenting on the expansion of ties between the two countries, Fernando Coelho Filho expressed hope that the Iranian minister’s visit to Brazil would pave the way for reaching major agreements in various areas.

He also announced his intention to visit Iran in near future for serious talks on investment opportunities.

Tayebnia visited Brazil to attend the fourth session of the joint committee for economic cooperation between the two countries.
