Kazakhstan actively implements the program of enhancing the role of the regions in the economy of the country under the “Strategic Development Plan of Kazakhstan until 2025”.

The ongoing measures, taken by the government of the country, to improve the economic unity, as well as the productivity of the regions include the organizations of different rankings, including on level of doing business.

“The "Strong Regions and Urbanization" reform aims to increase the autonomy of the regions and to provide basic standards of living for the people. Competition based on ranking of doing business will be an important incentive for the development of the regions,” Deputy Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Madina Abylkasymova said, according to the Ministry’s message.

She added that the competition should not become a reason for the isolation of regions, but in contrary, it is expected to strengthen the interregional cooperation in searching for opportunities and optimizing resources, creating united economic markets in economically active centers of Kazakhstan, such as Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktobe and Ust-Kamenogorsk cities.

The Kazakh government also intends to take measures on the development of social infrastructure and services in the medium-sized cities, creating conditions for the growth of private entrepreneurship and improvement of the standard of living.
