EBRD supporting private entrepreneurship in Turkmenistan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested 256 million euros in the economy of Turkmenistan, paying special attention to supporting private entrepreneurship in the country, the EBRD said in a message Jan. 8.
In November last year, the EBRD forecast the Turkmen economy to grow 5.7 percent in 2017 and 5.1 percent in 2018.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of natural gas and has opportunities to export it to China and Iran.
Ashgabat chose a course to diversify the local economy. The textile industry, as well as the area of petroleum products, advanced. The oil, gas and chemical industry and the production of building materials are being actively developed.
