Lithuania and Azerbaijan have great potential for expanding mutual trade turnover, Economy Minister of Lithuania Virginijus Sinkevičius said in an exclusive interview with Trend.
“Taking into consideration the established relations and the interest for cooperation, existing between our countries, I would like to express my willingness to further enhance sustainable and constructive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania,” said the minister.
“With reference to the statistics of bilateral trade, we have to acknowledge that the potential of commercial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania still has plenty of space to expand. According to the Lithuanian Department of Statistics, during January-October of 2017, Azerbaijan ranked 58th by trade turnover among 204 Lithuania‘s trade partners: 48th by exports and 84th by imports. However, in 2017 (January-November) there is some increase in trade between the two countries,” noted Sinkevičius.
Lithuania is interested to have more fruitful bilateral trade and is highly interested in improving the bilateral trade balance, said the official.
He added that the trade relationship between Lithuania and Azerbaijan is neither intense in terms of goods nor in services.
“Although Lithuania can offer a wide range of high quality products and services,” added Sinkevičius.
