In 2018, the growth of the car market in Kazakhstan will be 15-20 percent, said Anar Makashev, vice president of the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business (AKAB).
He said that a considerable contribution will be made by the third tranche of the state program on preferential auto loans at 4 percent per annum launched in early 2018 and a recycling program.
"The first month of the passive sales season, which usually lasts the entire first quarter of the year, is encouraging. Of course, while the figures look rather modest in comparison, but one can't deny that the market recovers and a moderate positive dynamics can be expected throughout the year," he said.
According to calculations of AKAB analysts, Ravon showed the largest growth among top three leaders of the market. The dealers sold 492 cars in January 2018. The dynamics of Lada and Toyota are more modest - 785 cars and 665 cars, respectively.
Hyundai showed a 33.9 percent increase - 237 sold cars. Russian Gaz is in the fifth position with 155 sold cars. The TOP-10 of the most successful brands in January included Kia (133 units), Nissan (106 cars), Russian UAZ (73 cars ), Lexus (69 cars) and Volkswagen (58 cars).
In 2017, 46,377 cars were sold by official dealers in Kazakhstan, which is by 5.8 percent higher than in 2016. During the reported period, Kazakh people spent $1.12 billion on purchasing new cars, which is 28.6 percent more than a year ago.
