Kazakhstan region to increase production, export of agricultural products

The South-Kazakhstan region intends to increase production and export of processed agricultural products, said the head of the region Zhanseit Tuimebayev at a press conference.

In 2018, the crop area will be increased by 15,000 hectares, the total area will amount to 833,000 hectares, Kazakh media outlets reported.

The region also plans to increase gardens area by 800 hectares, grapes area - by 736 hectares, raspberries area - by 300 hectares, and walnut gardens by 1,000 hectares.

Tuimebayev stressed that that in 2018 the region will continue to unite peasant farms in cooperatives. The cooperatives are expected to produce 2,700 tons of meat, 34,200 tons of milk, 6,000 tons of fruit, and 5,000 tons of vegetables.

"At the same time, we plan to open 3,173 new small feeding grounds, 731 dairy farms, 15 small poultry farms and 7 fish farms in the region. The value of agricultural products will increase by 595.3 billion tenge, or 3.9 percent," Tuimebayev said.

The region also plans to attract rural residents to mass entrepreneurship, contributing to the development of family business, as well as the production of dairy products, drying fruits, berries and livestock.
