The Foreign Trade Relations Ministry of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the Regional Manager of the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program for Central Asia David Sulaberidze, the Ministry said in a message on Feb.26.
During the meeting, the American side was informed about the ongoing work to improve the national legislation of Uzbekistan in the field of export control, including the development of the list of export control facilities.
To familiarize Uzbek specialists with the latest changes in the sphere of trade in strategic goods, the American side expressed its readiness to hold seminars with the involvement of technical experts who, under the EXBS program, can assist in the development of national legislation. The Uzbek side supported this proposal.
Furthermore, EXBS representatives were informed on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the field of export control, in particular, the development of a draft regulatory and legal act approving the national list of export control objects in accordance with the "On Export Control."
The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January 2018 amounted to about $1.8 billion, including exports at the level of about $0.7 billion and imports - $1.1 billion.
Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover in 2017 increased by 11.3 percent compared to 2016 and amounted to $26.962 billion.
The volume of exports from Uzbekistan increased by 15.4 percent to $ 13.954 billion by the end of 2017, import - to $ 13.008 billion.
