Total assets of Kazakhstan's second-tier banks increase

Total assets of the second-tier banks of Kazakhstan increased by 748.3 billion tenges (3.2 percent) and amounted to 24.3 trillion tenges in June this year, Ranking.kz wrote Aug. 7.

This figure has decreased by 886.1 billion tenges (minus 4.5 percent), compared to June last year. The most noticeable change in the volume of assets of banks during the last year was recorded in July last year, when there was a decrease of 1.3 trillion tenges (- 5.2 percent).

At the same time, 19 of 32 banks increased the volume of their assets during June.

The Halyk Bank is leading with a monthly increase by 247.8 billion tenges (5.2 percent) to 5.1 trillion tenges. The bank's share increased from 20.5 percent to 20.8 percent over the month.

It is followed by Citibank with an increase by 115.8 billion tenges (18.7 percent) to 733.8 billion tenges. The bank's share has increased from 2.6 percent to 3 percent.

Qazkom bank (this bank is finalizing the process of merging with the Halyk Bank) closes the Top 3 list with the increase by 81.6 billion tenges (2.6 percent). The bank's share has decreased from 13.4 percent to 13.3 percent.

The volume of the total loan portfolio of the second-tier banks increased by 84.5 billion tenges (0.6 percent) to 13.5 trillion tenges in June. However, this figure is 2.1 trillion tenges (13.2 percent) less than a year earlier.

The share of loans in the portfolio of assets decreased from 57 percent to 55.6 percent over the last month.
