Expected volumes of rice crops in Kazakhstan disclosed

At least 450,000 tons of rice with an average yield of 50 centners per hectare are planned to harvest in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region in 2018, the Kazakh media reported Sept. 5.

In 2017, rice farmers of the region harvested 502,525 tons, which is 20 percent more than in 2016 and 150,000 tons more than in 1991.

Rice producers have raised prices by 9.8 percent in Kazakhstan since early 2018, the Statistics Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of National Economy said earlier.

In January-August 2018, the producer prices increased by 11.9 percent.

"The producer prices for rice increased by 9.8 percent, vegetable oil - by 6.7 percent, tea - by 4.4 percent, fish - by 3.1 percent, rye flour - by 1.9 percent, wheat flour - by 0.9 percent, cattle meat - by 1.5 percent, bread - by 0.5 percent, dairy products - by 0.4 percent," the ministry said.
