Turkey sees fall in sale of real estate

In August 2018, 105,154 real estate objects were sold in Turkey, which is by 12.5 percent less than in August 2017, according to the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUIK).

During the reporting period, 15,262 real estate objects were sold in Istanbul, 9,291 real estate objects - in Ankara, and 5,064 real estate objects - in Izmir.

The remaining 75,537 real estate objects account for the share of other Turkish cities.

In August 2018, 3,866 real estate objects were sold to foreigners in Turkey, which is 129.6 percent more compared to the same month of 2017.

In August 2018, foreigners purchased 1,141 real estate objects in Istanbul, and 675 objects in Antalya, while the remaining 2,050 objects acquired by foreigners account for the share of other Turkish cities.

In August 2018, Iraqi citizens purchased 944 real estate objects in Turkey, Iranian citizens – 394 objects and citizens of Russia – 192 objects.

The remaining 2,336 real estate objects account for the share of citizens of other countries.
