Iran improves position in WB Doing Business

Iran has significantly improved its positions in the World Bank Group's Doing Business ranking.

Iran ranked 128th among 190 countries in Doing Business 2019, increasing its score from 54.64 in Doing Business 2018 to 56.98 in Doing Business 2019.

According to Doing Business 2019, Iran ranks 173rd in Starting a Business, 86th in Dealing with Construction Permits, 108th in Getting Electricity and 90th in Registering Property, thereby improving its scores in all these indicators.

Moreover, the country came in 99th in Getting Credit and 173rd in Protecting Minority Investors with scores remaining unchanged from the Doing Business 2018.

Iran became 149th in Paying Taxes and 121st in Trading across Borders, significantly increasing its score in both indicators.

Finally, the country ranked 89th in Enforcing Contracts and 131st in Resolving Insolvency with the same scores as in Doing Business 2018.

Moreover, the World Bank said that the Islamic Republic of Iran made paying taxes easier by introducing an online system for filing social security contributions, allowing the possibility of filing value added tax refund claims online, amending corporate income tax returns online and making payment of additional tax liability at the bank.
