Kazakhs annually buy about 60,000 cars, Investment and Development Minister Zhenis Kassymbek said at a plenary session of the lower house of parliament, according to Kazinform.

"If in 2015 Kazakh cars accounted for only 15 percent of the entire car market, this figure already reached 30 percent by the end of last year," he said.

The minister also shared his expectations for the current year.

"We expect that the market will be 70,000 cars at the end of this year, and about 35 percent of them will be cars of Kazakh assembly," he said.

Kassymbek noted that the number one task was to increase the number of Kazakh cars in the domestic market, and the second task was their export.

The first export batch included 1,500 cars.

"This was our first export of cars and we plan to continue this work. Our target markets are Russia, partly China and Central Asian countries," he added.

Earlier, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Automobile Industry Enterprises' Union Oleg Alferov informed that for the first 9 months of this year, the production of cars in the country amounted to 21,137. As many as 63.2 percent of them accounted for AZIA AVTO JSC and 36.2 percent were produced by SaryarkaAvtoProm LLP.
