Iran discloses quantity of sturgeon bred in Gilan province

Presently, 445 tons of sturgeon are bred at 40 fish farms in Iran’s Gilan province, Ishaq Shabani, director of the Main Directorate of Fisheries of Gilan province, said, Trend reports via ISNA.

In total, 5,445 people work at 5,694 fish farms in Gilan province and more than 50,000 tons of water creatures are bred there, he said.

About 150 million sturgeon and juvenile bony fish have been released into the sea to keep fishing in the Caspian Sea, Shabani said.

Last Iranian year over 1.1 million tons of water creatures were caught in Iran. Moreover, 64,680 tons accounted for Gilan province, he added.
