Freight transportation through Kazakhstan railways increase

The volume of transportation of the national cargo carrier of Kazakhstan KTZ - Freight Transportation increased by 4 percent in 2018, reaching 283 million tons, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

"This is 11 million tons higher than in 2017. In addition, 255 million tons were dispatched in 2018, which is 5.3 percent higher than in 2017," said the company’s acting Executive Director of Operations Kumisbek Matzhanov.

The greatest growth was recorded in the transportation of grain (36 percent) and coal (2.6 percent). Of the loaded goods, 30 percent or 85 million tons were exported. Export loading increased by 5.2 million tons or 7 percent.

Matkhanov also noted that this year the company plans to achieve a turnover of at least 227 billion ton-kilometers, or an increase of 3.5 percent.

In addition, measures will be taken to achieve the speed of 1,050 kilometers per day for container trains running from China to Europe, which is 3.5 percent higher than in 2018.
