Trend:

The car prices in Iran have recently increased. The challenges in the country's auto sector continue, and even the middle class can not afford to buy a good quality vehicle.

With that said, the population has settled for the domestically manufactured Pride car.

"The fluctuations in the market and lack of supervision from the authorities have created concerns for people. Iran is a strong country but the economic ministers "have left the market"," the Member of the Parliament Amir Khojasteh told Trend in an interview.

He noted the efforts of Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade in the auto field have only caused the rise of dealerships in the market.

The MP said that the minister's decision regarding the car prices in the market, and especially the price of Pride (to sell 5 percent lower than the market price), resulted in increase of dealerships, which isn't good for consumers.

The price of "Pride" - a car domestically manufactured in Iran, that used to be sold to low-income class, has risen in price by 30 percent since last month.

The MP indicated the real price of Pride is less than its current value.

The MP went on to say that "we expected the minister to resolve the situation, so there would not be daily rise of car prices".
