Despite its small size, Iran's Alborz province accounts for 7 percent of the country's total agricultural output, the head of Alborz Agricultural Jihad Organization Majeed Mousavi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Mousavi noted that 67,000 hectares of land have been allocated for agriculture in Alborz province.

Annual agricultural output of Alborz reaches 1.9 million tons, Mousavi said.

Of the total agricultural production of the province, crops account for 933,000 tons, while fruits and animal husbandry account for 532,000 and 478,000 tons respectively, he said.

The head of the organization added that Alborz province ranks first or second in Iran's agricultural and animal husbandry sectors.
