Iran to manufacture nearly 1000 carriages for its urban rail transport fleet

Iran's Planning and Budget Organization and Ministry of Roads and Urban Development have signed a memorandum of understanding for production of of 974 passenger cars and locomotive wagons with a value of $462 million in the next Iranian year (starts on March, 21).

The idea is to develop Iran's urban rail transport fleet.

The deputy director of economic affairs of the Planning and Budget Organization Seyyed Hamid Pourmohammadi said that the memorandum envisages production of 40 locomotives, 650 freight wagons, 24 rail buses, 30 passenger carriages, Trend reports via IRNA.

Also, a MoU on the development of Iran's metro railway fleet was signed today between Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, head of the Planning and Budget Organization and Mohammad Eslami, Minister of Road and Urban Development.
