Iran commissions 20 projects in mining sector for last year

Some 20 projects with $2.2 billion investment were commissioned in Iran during the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Head of Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation (IMIDRO) and Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Khodadad Gharibpour told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Gharibpour, 4,400 and 25,000 people were provided with direct and indirect employment with the commissioning of the projects, respectively.

"During the last days of the previous year, the Jajarm aluminium plant was commissioned. An investment of $131 million was made for this project and 600 people were provided with direct employment," he said.

According to Gharibpour, construction of 3 projects worth $93 million will soon begin. One of them is the expansion of Zarshoran Gold Mine, which is set to increase the production output to 1.5 tons.

He added that IMIDRO and its affiliated companies are planning to launch various projects with $9.5 billion of investments by 2021.
