Pakistan is finalizing a shipping plan from Karachi to Iran's Bandar Abbas, Pakistan's Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Pakistan is finalizing a shipping plan from Karachi to Bandar Abbas through the Gwadar port, aimed at facilitating the transit of Pakistani pilgrims to Iran," he said. "The Iranian side is also ready to provide services in this regard, but work on some security issues continues, which will soon be resolved."
He added that the ministry is getting the necessary security clearance, and plans to purchase large passenger ships for the pilgrimage of Pakistan.
Pakistan's ambassador to Iran had previously announced that 700,000 Pakistani pilgrims annually travel to Mashhad.
