Director General of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization Allah-Morad Afifipour said that the basic goods have to be unloaded from vessels at the ports as soon as possible.

“At present, our priority is to harbor vessels carrying essential goods and provide unloading services,” Afifipour said, Trend reports citing the official website of Ports and Maritime Organization.

“In the past five months, the priority has been given to unloading of basic goods such as raw sugar, rice, cooking oils and paper,” he said.

“The necessary measures were taken to coordinate with the customs and other provincial authorities,” he added.

“We tried to discharge the basic goods from the Shahid Rajaee port as soon as possible,” he said. “Considering that the major owners of goods coming to Shahid Rajaee port are government companies, we request that they speed up their efforts to clear the goods from the port as soon as possible.”

"Rapid clearance of goods from the port is important because the goods will reach factories faster, which use them to manufacture final products, also they will reach customers faster, and the warehouses can get assigned for other imported goods," he explained.

"The rapid clearance of goods from the port has several advantages; first, the faster the goods reach consumers, while the factories can use these imported goods to produce their final product, and the second is that the warehouses in the port can be assigned to other imported goods,” said Afifi-Pour.
