The value of investments directed to environmental protection of Kazakhstan amounted to 44.2 billion tenge during the period of January-May 2019, which is four times more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to Energyprom.
Some 24 billion tenge of investments, which is the largest volume among regions account for Atyrau region. Last year the sum of investments into the region equaled to 1.8 billion tenge. Over half of the total volume of investments accounts for this region.
Furthermore, the investments value into Akmola and Karaganda regions amounted to 7.1 billion tenge and 4.1 billion tenge respectively. Last year these sums stood at 692.8 million and 964 million tenge.
Some 79.8 percent of the total volume of investments accounts for these three regions.
The highest level of pollution is observed in Nur-Sultan city (former Astana). Other cities such as Almaty, Atyrau, Aktobe, Zhezqazghan, Karaganda, Petropavl and Semey are also among highly polluted towns.
In contrast, cities with low pollution levels are Taldykorgan, Aktau, Uralsk, Turkestan and Kyzylorda.
