Income of water transport companies reaches nearly $4M in Kazakhstan

The income of Kazakh water transport enterprises exceeded 1.5 billion tenge ($3.962 million) in January-May 2019, Trend reports with reference to Energyprom monitoring agency.

Notwithstanding the decrease of volume of 51.4 percent, some 1.4 billion tenge of the income accounts for marine and coastal transport.

In turn, the income of internal water transport amounted to 62.4 million tenge, which is 46.5 percent more than in the same period of last year. Furthermore, some 60.8 million tenge of the sum accounts for cargo and luggage transport and only 1.6 million tenge accounts for passenger transport.

Thus, the cargo and luggage transport income decreased by 57.9 percent, whereas the passenger transport income decreased by 60.2 percent.

The volume of passenger transport decreased on water and coastal transport by 62.4 and 57 percent respectively.

The volume of cargo and luggage transport amounted to 258,400 tons via internal water transport in January-May 2019, which is double the volume of the same period last year.

The cargo turnover via internal water transport amounted to 1.3 million of ton-kilometers, which is also almost double the volume of the same period of previous year. However, the passenger turnover decreased by 82.9 percent.

The volume of both cargo and passenger turnover via marine and coastal transport decreased by 61.1 percent and 63 percent.
