Italy is ready to enhance trade ties with Iranian businessmen

The Italian embassy in Iran seeks to gather specific and transparent data to improve the trade cooperation with Iranian merchants and businessmen, said the new Italian Ambassador to Iran.

"Considering the level of ties between Iranian and Italian businessmen, it seems there is a solid base for cooperation," said Giuseppe Perrone, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The activities of Iran-Italy joint chamber of commerce indicate high interest in cooperation between two countries. According to statistics, Italy is one of Iran's major trade partners," said the envoy during a meeting at Iran-Italy joint chamber of commerce.

"Considering the sanctions pressure on Iran's business, it should be noted that we are in special situation. The governments and even private sector have double responsibility; therefore, I attended the meeting to become familiar with people that trade with Italian market," he said.

"The Italian Embassy is ready for any cooperation with Iranian side. We are trying to gather transparent and precise information to improve bilateral cooperation, since the information is important in trades," he noted. "It is important not only to maintain the relations, but also to find new ways to boost them," he added.

In turn, Chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholamhossein Shafei emphasized that the political and economic cooperation between Iran and Italy is at a good level.

"There were trade meetings and business trips between two countries in last Iranian year (started March, 21, 2018), which indicate special relations between Iran and Italy," said Shafei.
