The passenger turnover via Kazakhstan’s Kuryk port in the Caspian Sea amounted to 4,680 people in 1H2019, which is 14 times more than 332 people in 1H2018, Trend reports with reference to Interfax Kazakhstan.

“Each year, more and more tourists and transit passengers arrive and depart via the port. Some 3,623 passengers have passed the ferry complex in 2018, while in the first half of this year, the number of the passengers who already passed the ferry complex has increased to 4,680,” the report said.

The Kuryk port is located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau port. The ferry complex is built to receive all types of ships. The port was put into service in December 2016 and began operating the following March. Kuryk has subsequently become a key component in the country’s transformation into a Eurasian continental transport and logistics hub.
