Iran's Aras Free Zone increases exports

The volume of exports goods produced in Aras Free Zone has grown last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018) despite US sanctions.

Managing Director of Aras Free Zone Mohsen Nariman revealed the statistics of Iranian exports from the zone to neighbor countries in an interview with Trend.

"The production units of Aras Free Zone exported 32 percent of their products to Azerbaijan, which was the first customer of the free zone last Iranian year. Some 6.700 million kilos of goods valued at $28.2 million were exported to Azerbaijan," he noted.

"About 27 percent of the products with weight of 45.2 million kilo goods worth $22.8 million were exported to Turkey, and 14.9 million kilos of goods worth $15.2 million were exported to Russia," he added.

In his words, the major exported goods included bitumen, gasoline, hydrocarbon, PVC, various bags, Polyethylene rope, nuts, polyester string, textile, pepper, tomato, jumbo bag, and cardboard. Other exported products were MDF Melamine, green house equipment, cabinet boards, furniture, electronic oven, car battery, unwoven textile and silicone.

"The total value of goods produced in, and exported from, Aras Free Zone, reached $114 million, despite economic sanctions against Iran. All exports from the zone amounted to $251 million in 2018, having increased by $12 million compared to 2017," he added.
