Iran seeks to inspire people to pay taxes by increasing their knowledge of how taxation effects the charges and social costs, said the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance at a meeting to celebrate Tax Day.
"The result of tax payment is better security, better education, health and medical services, equality, reduced poverty and the country's progress; thus, the people's knowledge of tax charges and their effect on public costs will increase their motivation to pay taxes," said Farhad Dejpasand, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The current situation including the sanctions and drop of oil revenues is an opportunity to use the potential capacities of taxes in the country, while it will mitigate the effect of unfair sanctions," he added.
In his words, usage of non-oil revenues is a golden opportunity to have a budget that is not dependent on oil and strengthen the economy.
"Hopefully, volunteer tax payment will become a national duty and the result will be sustainable development, economy protected from shocks and foreign damages, increase of social welfare and Iran's economic growth," he added.
