Iran to complete the Gilan railway route by connecting Manjil – Roudbar that would link the railway network to the Anzali- Astara railway project, said the head of Planning and Budget Organization of Iran Mohammad Bagher Nobakht.
"Fortunately, the Gilan railway is working, and by completing the remaining 11 kilometers of the Manjil-Roudbar connection by the new Iranian year (started March 21, 2020) it would be linked to Anzali - Astara transit route," said Nobakht.
"The Gilan railway would launch a special track from Tehran to Rasht that would pass Manjil that has capacity to attract tourists in addition to Rasht – Mashhad railway route," he added.
"The countries of the north can easily use transport route to the Persian Gulf, by completing the International North South Transportation Corridor (INSTC). So, it is important to have Rasht-Anzali-Astara railway completed," he said.
"There is a need for setting up 730 kilometers of rails to connect Chabahar to Zahedan railway, however Rasht-Anzali railway only needs 30 kilometers of rails that can be launched into operation in less than a year and increase Iran's imports and exports," he indicated.
