Air Astana increases revenue by 12%

In the first half of 2019, the revenues of Kazakhstan's Air Astana increased by 12 percent, and total operating expenses - by 7 percent, while the loss decreased from six billion tenge in 1H2018 to 2.7 billion tenge in 1H2019, Trend reports referring to the business information center kapital.kz.

According to the report, all airlines are characterized by lower results in the first half of the year with the subsequent restoration of results in the second half of the year.

Over the past six months, the Kazakhstan's airline carried 2.1 million passengers, which is one percent more than the figure for the first half of last year. Internal traffic increased by 9 percent.

“It is worth noting that in June, Air Astana carried 39 percent more domestic passengers compared to June 2018, and this trend is expected to continue and intensify with the growing positive impact of FlyArystan,” the statement said.

FlyArystan is the first Kazakhstan low-cost airline based in the city of Almaty. The airline began operating commercial flights on domestic scheduled flights starting May 1, 2019.

The average age of Air Astana aircraft is 7.36 years. The fleet consists of 36 Boeing 767/757, Airbus A320/A321 and Embraer E190/E190-E2 aircraft.

In June, the airline was awarded the Skytrax Agency award for the eighth time in the category “Best Airlines in Central Asia and India”.
