While visiting Chabahar port facilities and infrastructure, CEO of Russian Astrakhan Special Economic Zone Sergey Milushkin pointed out the importance of the port in connecting the Caspian ports to the Indian Ocean, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

“The Russian government is to use the Chabahar Port for transporting goods to other countries, especially the Indian subcontinent, as well as investing in the creation and construction of a container terminal at Shahid Beheshti Port,” Milushkin said.

General Manager of Sistan and Baluchestan Ports and Maritime Organization Behrouz Aghaie underlined the capacities, infrastructure and incentives for investors in Chabahar ports. There is no restrictions for Russian investors to invest in, and transport goods through, the Chabahar port, he said.

Aghaie went on to reject the rumors of the assignment of the Chabahar port to Russia.

"The purpose of the CEO of Russian Astrakhan Special Economic Zone was purely for studying the port capacities," he said.
