Turkmen Ministry of Textile Industry has developed a plan for 2019-2025, Trend reports referring to Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
This document has been prepared taking into account the main trends and changes in the global economy.
Turkmenistan sold 39,300 tons of cotton yarn in the amount of $114 million in January-June 2019, which is 24.3 percent more than in January-June 2018, cotton fabric - about 60 million square meters in the amount of $61.8 million (an increase of 37.8 percent), clothing and other finished textile products - in the amount of $38.1 million (116.8 percent), the news report said.
In terms of the climatic conditions, Turkmenistan is a unique zone for growing medium-fiber and fine-fiber varieties of cotton. The indicator of cotton fiber processing has grown from three percent to 51 percent during the years of independence.
Today, 85 textile enterprises operate in the country, of which 63 account for manufacturing enterprises, and 15 are joint ventures, producing high-quality cotton and blended yarn and fabrics, knitted, terry products, jeans.
The Altyn Asyr Shopping Center and 11 specialized stores operate under the Textile Ministry. In total, about 30,000 people work in the textile industry.
The products of the textile enterprises have the certificates ISO 9001 "Production Management and Quality Control System", ISO 14001 "Environmental Protection", and OHSAS 18001 "Labor Protection and Industrial Safety".
