Banks in Georgia buy $14B a year

On average, banks in Georgia bought $14 billion a year and sold $14.7 billion in 2016-2018, Trend reports referring to the National Bank of Georgia.

That is, they delivered more money on the foreign exchange market than they bought on the market.

In January-July of 2019, banks bought $12.3 billion and sold $13.3 billion, that is, they put a billion dollars more on the foreign exchange market.

For seven months of 2019, banks bought $1.4 billion in framework of interbank transactions, $6.2 billion from non-resident commercial banks, and $4.7 billion from legal entities and individuals.

The National Bank of Georgia is the central bank of Georgia. Its status is determined by the Constitution of Georgia. The Bank does not depend on state control and is entrusted with the task of ensuring price stability.
