Iran’s Wagon Pars company inks deal for production of 100 railcars

An agreement has been signed for production of 100 freight railcars between Iran’s Wagon Pars company in the Arak district of Iran’s Markazi province and the Tejarat Kushesh Sepahan company, said Mohammadreza Mokhtari, managing director of the Wagon Pars Company, Trend reports referring to the website of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the Markazi Province.

He said that the value of the contract is 620 billion rials (about $14.7 million).

He added that the operating company paid 40 billion rials (about $952,000) to Wagons Pars company as a down payment.

He said that after many years have passed, a contract was signed with a local Iranian company to produce 10 locomotives.

He noted that Wagon Pars company has the potential to produce up to 1,000 freight railcars, 150 passenger railcars and 40 locomotives per year.

Since the day of its operation start, the Wagon Pars Company has produced 12,000 freight railcars, 400 passenger railcars and 300 subway railcars.
